Duty Manager

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Duty Manager x 2 to join our team at Hinds Wayside Inn , a busy country tavern offering a restaurant, bar, café, bottle store, and accommodation services. The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations across all areas of the business, ensuring smooth service delivery, excellent customer experience, and compliance with licensing and health & safety regulations.

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR DUTY MANAGER / FOH

• Ensure a professional relationship with the kitchen and Front of House is maintained, to
• ensure the overall business operates smoothly.
• Organise functions for customers, including communicating with all relevant parties to ensure
• all requirements of the customers and the business are met.
• Training and supervising the new staff.
• General cash, eftpos and credit card handling, and till reconciliation.
• Handle customer complaints and deal with them in a professional and friendly manner.
• Ensure host obligations (under the sale of liquor act) are conveyed to all restaurant staff & practiced.
• Provides exceptional FOH service to customers & ensuring the rest of the team also do the same.
• Checking Stock levels & helping with ordering supplies.
• Maintaining a high standard of quality control, hygiene, and adhere to health & safety standards.
• Lead by example and motivate the staff members on shift.
• Communicate with the guests about any changes to the menus, wine list and venue.
• Maintain good host responsibility.
• Keeping the work areas clean & tidy.
• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Check food while cooking to stir or turn & help the Chef while cooking & follow his / her instructions.
• Assisting the kitchen while service.
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Check quality of ingredients
• Monitor stock & rotate accordingly.
• Work with management to assess and improve processes and policies
• Uphold and enforce company policies
• Address employee complaints or performance issues as needed
• Check in with employees regularly to determine satisfaction
• Address customer issues and complaints
• Schedule regular maintenance and cleaning of facilities like toilets, ensure fireplaces running
• and firewood restocked.
• Oversee security of the facility.
