About the Role :
Sage and Salt Restaurant and Bar is seeking two full-time Cooks to join our friendly and professional kitchen team.
You will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes, ensuring that all meals are prepared to consistent standards.
The role involves working across different meal services, including breakfast, à la carte lunch and dinner, and function catering.
You will assist in daily food preparation, maintain hygiene and food safety standards, and contribute to the smooth operation of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities :
Select and prepare fresh ingredients for daily food service
Carry out a range of food preparation tasks such as washing, cutting, seasoning, and cooking using various methods (grilling, frying, steaming, roasting, etc.)
Ensure all dishes are cooked to the right temperature and presented to our quality standards
Work closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate timing and workflow during busy service hours
Clean and maintain kitchen tools, equipment, and cooking areas in accordance with hygiene and safety standards
Monitor stock levels and assist in managing inventory of food items and kitchen supplies
Assist in supervising junior staff on cooking techniques, safety protocols, and equipment use
Contribute to the development of new menu items and help test recipes
Skills and Experience Required :
At least 2 years' experience in a busy restaurant, café, or hotel kitchen, or a relevant certificate (Level 4) in cookery or hospitality.
Strong understanding of various cooking techniques and international cuisines.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations (Food Control Plan).
Reliable, punctual, and passionate about hospitality and quality food preparation.
Hours and Conditions :
Full-time permanent role : at least 30 hours per week.
Rostered shifts between 6 : 00 am and 9 : 00 pm, including weekends and public holidays.
Two days off every five days on a rotating roster.
Additional hours may be required to support functions or to cover for absent staff.
