The Southland District Council has the largest land area to manage of any territorial authority, encompassing Fiordland National Park and Stewart Island. This is a specialist leadership role focused on building compliance, ensuring buildings and structures remain safe and legally compliant. As the Building Compliance Team Leader, you will lead a team responsible for monitoring, advising, and enforcing compliance with the Building Act 2004 and related legislation.
This is a customer-oriented role, working closely with property owners, businesses, and stakeholders to help them understand and meet their post-consent obligations. You will work alongside a like-minded leadership team, supported by the Manager Building Solutions, combining technical expertise, regulatory leadership, and a strong commitment to public safety and service excellence.
