The Competitions and Communications Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of SBA’s competitions, representative programmes, and community engagement initiatives. This role involves managing event logistics, coordinating communications with members and stakeholders, and promoting SBA activities through digital and community channels.
Basketball knowledge is an advantage but not essential - a passion for community sport and strong organisational skills are what matter most.
The start date for this position is flexible and can be arranged to suit the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Competitions : Plan, organise, and deliver SBA competitions — including venue bookings, registrations, officiating, and equipment setup.
- Representative Programme : Coordinate communication, logistics, and support for representative teams, players, and coaches.
- Communication & Promotion : Manage enquiries, programme registrations, and SBA’s digital presence (website and social media).
- Operations : Maintain office resources, equipment, and assets, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and event support.
Skills and Experience
Strong organisational and time management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Experience in event coordination or sports administration (preferred).Proficiency in Microsoft Office, GameDay, and social media platforms.Ability to build positive relationships with players, parents, coaches, and community partners.Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during key events.You must have a current New Zealand Drivers Licence.If you have any questions or would like to view the full detailed job description please email : (emailprotected)
