The National University of Singapore invites applications for a research assistant / associate in the Multimodal Neuroimaging in Neuropsychiatric Disorders Laboratory (MNNDL) at the Department of Medicine.
The MNNDL group at NUS studies the human neural bases of cognitive functions and the associated vulnerability patterns in aging and neuropsychiatric disorders using multimodal neuroimaging and psychophysical techniques.
Purpose of the post The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator, lab members, and collaborators to ensure successful completion of research projects, smooth operation of computing and neuroimaging equipment, and efficient management of neuroimaging database in the lab.
Responsibilities
Support cutting-edge neuroscience and machine learning research and development.
Conduct neuroimaging and behavioral experiments : subject recruitment, behavioral testing using a neuropsychological battery, image data collection, and data analysis.
Assist with computing server / storage administration, neuroimaging equipment maintenance, and general lab administration.
Learn fMRI scans with EEG recording, quality control, behavioural assessments, neuroimage processing using automatic or semi-automatic scripts, and implications in neuroscience and disease.
Assist researchers in IRB application, data preprocessing, database management, and contribute to presentations and publications.
Liaise and work with other clinical collaborators across Singapore institutes / hospitals on research projects.
Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree with a background in neuroscience, psychology, life science, engineering, or computing.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Prior programming experience in medical image analysis or database management (e.g., MATLAB, shell, Python) is a plus but not necessary.
Organized, reliable, self-motivated individual who can work effectively with others and multitask efficiently.
Expected to commit for at least two years.
Remuneration commensurate with qualifications and experience.
