As a key member of the Technology Services team, you'll work to ensure our clients' technology systems are robust, innovative, and change the game for their organisation.We are looking for a Full stack PHP Developer to join our team and help us deliver robust, scalable, and engaging technology solutions.
Most of your work will be on the Moodle and Totara LMS platforms, combining hands-on development with support and DevOps responsibilities to keep our platforms secure, performant, and future-ready.This role is suitable for someone who has at least 3 years experience, and is keen to have a voice in setting technology direction.About youYou're highly curious, technically meticulous, and have a get-stuff-done attitude.
A commitment to a diverse, healthy workplace is essential; knowledge, and / or interest in Te Reo Maori would be very beneficial.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem AdministrationManage Totara and Moodle environments for optimal performance, scalability, and uptime.Apply updates, patches, and security fixes to ensure compliance and stability.Monitor system health, logs, and user activity for proactive issue resolution.DevOps & AutomationImplement CI / CD pipelines for streamlined deployments and version control.Automate monitoring, backups, and infrastructure scaling.Collaborate with the team on cloud hosting, containerisation, and environment provisioning.Development & CustomisationDesign, build, and maintain custom plugins, themes, and integrations for Totara and Moodle.Extend platform functionality to meet organisational and client needs.Work with APIs and third-party tools to support seamless integrations.Provide technical support and troubleshooting for clients and internal teams.Work closely with learning designers, administrators, and stakeholders to implement solutions.Contribute to technical documentation, best practices, and process improvements.Skills & ExperienceExperience with Totara or Moodle development and front end is highly desirable.
If no LMS experience a background in Drupal, Silverstripe, Wordpress, Magento, Laravel or similar php application framework will be seen favorably.Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, such as Git, Docker, CI / CD pipelines, and cloud hosting.Familiarity with SSO setups, including SAML2, OAuth, and Shibboleth.Knowledge of Linux services, such as Apache, Nginx, Memcached, Redis and postfix.Proven experience contributing code to open-source communities.Experience in database management, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.Knowledge of eLearning standards (SCORM, xAPI, LTI) is an advantage.Experience with AI LLM's is an advantage.Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.About usSynapsys NZ Ltd is a national leader in improving organisational performance through capability uplift.
