About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Modeller to join our team in New Zealand, focusing on stormwater hydraulic modelling and leading impactful projects that shape the future of urban stormwater management. We are flexible where this role is located in New Zealand - ideally one of our main office locations of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch.
Role : Senior Modeller in Stantec’s Network Planning team, leading stormwater hydraulic modelling projects, delivering high-quality solutions to improve urban infrastructure, and working on local and international projects with global best practices and local expertise. Responsibilities include managing technical modelling activities to meet client expectations and ensure efficient project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Technical Oversight : Lead stormwater hydraulic modelling projects and teams, ensuring high-quality outcomes and integration of best practices.
- Client Interaction & Project Delivery : Liaise with internal and external clients to understand needs and ensure timely delivery within budget and scope.
- Collaboration : Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated stormwater management solutions.
- Mentorship : Guide junior staff, fostering skills development and maintaining project standards.
- Quality Assurance : Ensure rigorous QA / QC processes throughout the project lifecycle.
What We’re Looking For
Experience : Proven experience in stormwater hydraulic modelling, especially using InfoWorks ICM; experience with DHI Mike or Tuflow is a plus. HEC-HMS / RAS desirable. Experience in open channel drainage assessments is preferred.Skills : Strong GIS and data analysis expertise to support modelling.Leadership : Proactive, with the ability to manage projects and mentor junior staff while maintaining strong client relationships.Innovative Mindset : Creative problem-solving for complex stormwater challenges.Communication : Strong ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.What We Offer
