Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Civil Estimator to join our dynamic team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side for estimation and tendering of civil earthworks construction projects.
This role requires a strong understanding of civil earthworks construction processes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation and Budgeting : Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and comprehensiveness.
Prepare work to be estimated by gathering construction documents, specifications, and related documents
Identify and assemble the required bid package documents in advance of bid due date
Develop accurate estimates and schedules utilizing available tools, industry and estimating best practices
Produce accurate and comprehensive estimates for large or complex projects or programmes
Produce / manage complex / large estimates with limited management or supervision
Contract Management : Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
Measurement and Valuation : Conduct accurate measurements and valuations of work completed on-site.
Prepare and submit interim and final payment applications.
Cost Control and Reporting : Monitor project costs and expenditures, identifying and addressing any variances.
Provide regular financial reports and forecasts to project managers and stakeholders.
Risk Management : Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize financial and contractual risks.
Procurement : Manage the procurement process, including sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
Ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
Project Coordination : Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure project objectives are met within budget and on schedule.
Compliance : Ensure all work complies with relevant legal, regulatory, and quality standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years New Zealand experience in estimation and tendering for the civil earthworks construction projects
Experience with the estimation and tendering of large civil earthworks projects in New Zealand.
Knowledge of civil construction contracts, cost estimation, and financial management.
Knowledge of relevant legislation with the civils / building industry.
Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel)
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team onsite in Auckland CBD.
Ability to work in New Zealand
