• About the Role
• As a Product Owner within the Hospital & Campus Management Service Portfolio, you will take ownership of the vision, direction, and evolution of key digital products that enable Health NZ's mission to deliver better healthcare outcomes for all New Zealanders. You will act as the bridge between business needs and technical delivery, working closely with stakeholders, product teams, and leaders to ensure each product continues to deliver value and align with organisational goals. In this role, you will champion reusability, continuous improvement, and a clear product vision — helping to shape digital solutions that support the future of healthcare across Aotearoa.

• Our Digital Applications & Products function is part of Digital Services and is at the heart of keeping Health NZ's applications & products connected, secure, and running smoothly. We focus on making applications simpler, more reliable, and better aligned to the needs of our people and patients. With dedicated teams structured around the applications and products they support, we deliver stability, faster improvements, and real value to clinicians, operational leaders, and end users nationwide. By working closely with our Digital Delivery function, we're ensuring digital services aren't just fit-for-purpose but truly enable better healthcare across Aotearoa.
• About you
• You are a strategic and delivery-focused Product Owner who thrives on turning ideas into impactful digital solutions. With strong stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for continuous improvement, you balance business needs with user experience and technical feasibility. You bring a mix of analytical thinking, leadership, and collaboration — ensuring products evolve in ways that deliver value, efficiency, and great user experiences.You will bring :
• 5+ years' experience in product ownership or a related field, with a track record of delivering complex software products to market (particulary within Hopsital or Health facilities)
• Strong background in agile environments, with hands-on experience using agile methodologies
• Deep understanding of user experience (UX) principles and how they shape successful products
• Proven ability to analyse complex business problems, identify opportunities, and drive outcomes
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical audiences
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (an MBA is preferred)
• Certifications in Product Management or Agile methodologies (e.g. Certified Product Owner, Scrum Master) are an advantage
• Proficiency in using data analytics tools and applying insights to inform decisions
• Experience leading, motivating, and inspiring teams to deliver their best work
