Our Work Placement Program will run from November
This is a unique opportunity to join our Te Arawa Partnerships team.
Dedicated to building strong relationships between Rotorua Lakes Council and Te Arawa as mana whenua, this team works to recognise and protect Te Arawa's cultural, environmental, and economic interests - especially in lake and land management.
We provide cultural advice and direction, ensuring the wairua, tikanga, and kawa of Te Arawa are reflected in Council planning and decision-making, and lead meaningful engagement with iwi and hapu on key initiatives and strategies.Within Te Arawa Partnerships, Council's Te Amorangi Unit champions our commitment to being a truly bicultural organisation.
Te Amorangi leads kaupapa such as Reo Maori and tikanga learning, noho marae, and pohiri, while guiding Council in best practice bicultural engagement.
The unit supports staff to develop cultural competency and coordinates events and celebrations such as Matariki and Te Wiki o te Reo Maori.
Through these efforts, Te Amorangi helps embed bicultural values across all Council operations and ensures Te Arawa's voice shapes our collective decision-making.Working for Council means you'll be joining a dedicated team where your individual effort is part of something much bigger - delivering great things for our city and our community.Ideally, applicants will be currently undertaking tertiary study in Law, Policy or Environmental Planning.
