Duties

The Mental Health Substance Treatment Program (STP) Registered Nurse Manager (NM) executes position responsibilities to improve patient and organizational outcomes. They will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation. The MH STP RN provides direct patient care including substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and clinical support.

The MH Substance Treatment Program (STP) Registered Nurse Manager (NM) responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and / or supervising direct patient care. The Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed. The NM is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs / processes. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on Mental Health (MH) and substance use specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the MH continuum of care. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex MH client care. The MH STP RN gains awareness of the principles and goals of outpatient MH STP by understanding practices related to patient-centered care, recovery-oriented principles, and self-awareness related to caring for patients living with substance use conditions.
