We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to take on the role of Manager, Ministerial Services. This is a pivotal position within BRM, responsible for leading a team of skilled advisors and setting the strategic direction for ministerial servicing across the group.
This role requires someone who has :
Subject matter expertise in the Official Information ActStrong relationship management skills to manage and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at Minister’s Office, Ministerial Services Managers and Principal Advisors across MBIETechnical practitioner capability to navigate complex OIA requestsProven leadership who can inspire and drive the centralised team to deliver high-quality outcomes and lead innovative process improvements.You will be a key member of the branch leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities :
Leading and managing all BRM Ministerial Correspondence, Official Information Act requests, and Ombudsman complaints.Leading ministerial services practice across BRM, liaising with Ministerial offices, providing expert knowledge and expertise to enable complex decision making, contributing technical advice to practitioners and managers, and acting as a point of escalation for senior leaders and ministers’ offices.Coordinating the allocation of incoming work and acting as the key point of contact for the BRM Ministerial Services team across the business.Supporting the development and preparation of high-quality advice through peer review and process improvement for the BRM Ministerial Services team.Focus on continuous improvement across the group, ensuring best practice and consistency,Enabling effective decision making and risk managementLeading a high performing ministerial services team comprised senior advisors and a principal advisor, ensuring individuals’ professional and technical development.You will have proven ability to positively influence others, maintaining positive and effective relationships across the group and enterprise, using your influence others as necessary.

Demonstrated expert knowledge of the Official Information Act, and extensive knowledge of ministerial servicing processes and practiceDemonstrated experience in and commitment to leading continuous improvement for ministerial services systems and processesDemonstrated political nous, sound judgement and sensitivity to anticipate and mitigate risk and inform and enable decision makingProven experience developing positive and effective working relationships at all levels, Proven experience building and leading a high performing, engaged team in a large, complex public sector environmentA flexible, adaptable approach with the ability to respond to changing needs quickly and easily, bringing others along with themAppropriate professional or tertiary qualification and demonstrated professional leadership in a relevant areaYou must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand and be able to satisfy the Ministry’s security clearance requirements.MBIE's goal is to create a resilient and high-performing economy that delivers real and ongoing quality of life for all New Zealanders.
