Texel Air is excited to announce that we have an opening for the position of Technical Pilot – B737-800BCF within our Flight Operations Team.
This key role is ideal for an experienced pilot with a strong technical background who is looking to expand their impact beyond the flight deck.
The Technical Pilot will act as the subject matter expert (SME) for the B737-800BCF fleet, providing technical oversight and supporting the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our aircraft.
Responsibilities
Providing expert advice on B737NG systems, aircraft performance, and route procedures
Managing operational manuals (AFM, FCOM, MEL, QRH) and supporting regulatory compliance
Leading Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) administration and maintenance
Supporting simulator and ground training with technical content and accuracy
Contributing to safety investigations, risk assessments, and technical improvement projects
Representing Flight Ops in cross-functional forums and liaising with Boeing (via MyBoeingFleet)
Supporting aircraft weight and balance data, including OPT and load form revisions
Qualifications
Essential Requirements : Technical skills
NZ CAA or ICAO-compliant ATPL with Multi-Engine Instrument Rating.
Minimum 7,000 hours total time, including at least 2,000 hours on B737 or equivalent.
Proven technical expertise in B737 operations, systems, and performance.
Strong knowledge of NZ CAA Parts 119 and 121.
Experience in a technical, fleet, or standards support role.

Desirable
Recent experience on the B737-800BCF
Familiarity with Boeing platforms (MBF), EFB software (e.g. OPT, FlySmart), and cargo operations
This role is primarily office-based with some operational flying, simulator involvement, and occasional travel.
It may also include participation in a 24 / 7 technical support roster and emergency response duties.
This is a safety-sensitive position under the Drug and Alcohol Management Plan and is subject to testing in accordance with NZ CAA Part 67.
