Assistant Project Manager (Mangere, Auckland)

THE OPPORTUNITY :

We are looking for a motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our team on a full-time basis based in Mangere, Auckland. This role will support the planning, coordination, and execution of projects within the Rocklabs business, with a specific focus on engineering-based projects.

This foundational role is focused on assisting with the delivery of technical projects on time, within scope, and on budget. You will work under the guidance of Senior Project Managers, contributing to documentation, scheduling, reporting, and stakeholder communication while building capability through active learning and the use of Scott’s PMO processes.

KEY SKILLS WE’RE LOOKING FOR :

• Organisation : Be able to structure tasks, timelines, and priorities effectively to keep projects moving forward. Strong organisational skills help ensure that deadlines are met, resources are allocated efficiently, and stakeholders are kept informed. Without this, even small delays or missteps can escalate into larger project risks.
• Attention to detail : A keen eye for detail ensures nothing important is overlooked, whether it’s spotting errors in documentation, tracking dependencies, or following compliance requirements. This precision reduces rework, minimises risks, and builds trust with senior project managers and stakeholders.
• Adaptability / Flexibility : Be able to adjust to changing priorities, shifting deadlines, or unexpected challenges while maintaining composure and focus. Flexibility allows them to support senior leaders, keep teams motivated, and ensure progress continues even when circumstances change.
• Personal accountability : Taking ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities is critical to building credibility as a Assistant Project Manager. By following through on commitments, escalating issues when necessary, and being reliable, they demonstrate they can be trusted with greater responsibility. Accountability not only supports project success but also accelerates career development.
