Role Overview
Seeking a passionate, self-motivated, and detail-oriented junior / mid-level research chemist to join the research and development team. This role is suited to chemistry graduates or professionals with laboratory experience who wish to contribute to collaborative, industry-driven research in a dynamic start-up environment. The research chemist will play an active role in experimentation, product development, process scale‑up and optimization, and data analysis to advance renewable chemical technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, design, and execute laboratory experiments focused on lignin‑derived chemical processes, contributing to new product development and pilot‑scale processing.
- Assist with external trials, process development and product validation.
- Prepare and handle chemical reagents, solutions, and samples with expert care and protocols.
- Conduct analytical testing and routine analyses using FTIR, UV‑visible spectroscopy, chromatography, and other relevant methods.
- Record, analyze, and maintain accurate laboratory data following safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the R&D team to optimize procedures and improve product development outcomes.
- Compile technical reports and present research findings to the team.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment following best practices.
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, including commercial and engineering, to advance strategic company objectives.
- Stay up-to-date with current scientific advancements, and contribute to process innovation in sustainability and renewables.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.Practical laboratory and / or industrial experience and a strong understanding of material chemistry and laboratory techniques.Demonstrated experience in piloting, scaling up chemical processes, or transferring laboratory procedures to larger‑scale or commercial production environments.Knowledge of lignin or bio-based materials is desirable.Familiarity with analytical methods (HPLC, FTIR, GC‑MS) and data analysis software such as Origin or MagicPlot.Strong organizational and documentation skills, with excellent technical communication abilities.Enthusiastic about sustainability and renewable chemical innovation.Collaborative approach with experience planning projects and managing timelines on multidisciplinary teams.Equipment selection and procurement.What We Offer
