Junior Data Engineer

Freightways Information Services Ltd (FIS) is the internal shared services provider of information technology and advisory services to the Freightways businesses. We manage Freightways' overall information technology infrastructure and support data-driven decision-making across the group.

6-month fixed term opportunity

for an enthusiastic Junior Data Engineer to join our Data & Insights team. This role is ideal for applicants who are looking to broaden their skills in data, analytics, and technology. You will gain valuable hands-on experience while contributing to real business outcomes.

What you'll do :

As a Data Engineer, you will support the team with :

Building, testing and maintaining data pipelines and jobs that bring together data from different systems.

Assisting in the development of reports and dashboards for business users.

Helping ensure the business has access to accurate, understandable data.

Supporting the team in maintaining the reliability of our reporting environments.

Learning and applying Agile ways of working.

Working closely with software developers and BI analysts to develop your technical and business knowledge.

What we're looking for :

The ideal candidate will have :

A strong interest in data, analytics, and problem solving.

Some experience with Excel, SQL, or other data tools (advantageous but not essential).

Curiosity to learn about cloud platforms (Azure, Power BI) and modern data practices.

Good communication skills and willingness to work with colleagues across the business.

A proactive attitude and readiness to take on new challenges.
