Shirley Parsons is seeking a National Health & Safety Manager to join a leading logistics and transportation organisation operating across New Zealand.
This pivotal role combines strategic leadership with hands-on assurance activities, driving continuous improvement and fostering a strong safety culture across a multi-site business.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and enhance the Oceania H&S programme to ensure legal compliance and ISO
Act as custodian of H&S data accuracy and reporting, using trend analysis to drive improvement
Prepare governance reports and provide insights for continual improvement
Coach and mentor managers to embed H&S practices into daily operations
Develop and deliver training and awareness programmes to build capability
Facilitate worker engagement forums to encourage participation and feedback
Implement and oversee annual assurance programmes, celebrating successes and identifying improvement opportunities
Conduct independent verification activities under the 3 lines of defence model
The successful National H&S Manager will have
Formal qualification in Health & Safety (Level 6 or higher)
Membership of NZISM or similar professional body
Minimum 5 years' practical H&S experience in transport / logistics or multi-site operations
Strong understanding of New Zealand H&S legislation and ACC requirements
Experience with ISO
Excellent communication and influencing skills at all organisational levels
Proven ability to deliver H&S training and simplify complex requirements
Competent in Office 365 and data analysis for reporting
