Health, Safety & Environmental Lead

At MediaWorks, we’re looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Lead with the ability to strategically influence and empower our systems, capability, and culture to the next level. Success in this role will be defined by your ability to influence behaviour, drive ownership, and shape an environment where safety and sustainability are part of everyday decision-making.

The Opportunity :

Reporting into the Head of People & Culture, as our Health, Safety & Environmental Lead, you will shape and enhance our Health, Safety & Environmental Management System (HSEMS), ensure compliance with legislation, and drive continuous improvement across diverse teams and locations nationwide. Collaborating closely with leaders and teams across Aotearoa, building trust, improving competence, and enabling safe, sustainable operations—from our offices and studios to field, promotional, installation, infrastructure and transmission environments.

Responsibilities include :

• The review, uplift, and ownership of our HSEMS—ensuring policies, procedures, and systems are modern, compliant, and embedded.
• Strategic and operational risk management across our multi-site, contractor-heavy operation.
• Contractor prequalification, engagement, and ongoing safety performance.
• Training, competency development, inductions, and safety capability across all levels, including leadership.
• Health, safety and wellbeing initiatives that reduce harm and promote safe behaviors.
• Environmental management, monitoring, reporting, and sustainability improvement initiatives.
• Incident investigations, corrective action management, and continuous improvement.
• Health & Safety Committee leadership and engagement with Health & Safety Representatives.
• Transparent communication on safety performance, risk, and culture across the organisation—including Board reporting.
