Senior Intelligence Analyst (Senior Customs Officer Grade 2) – Auckland

Join our Customs Intelligence Unit to identify risks to our border and help stop threats from reaching our shores. You will be part of the wider Intelligence, Investigations and Enforcement group based in Auckland, reporting to the Supervising Customs Officer of the team. Working Monday to Friday during regular hours, the salary range is $82,894 – $106,618.
About You
Ideally you will have intelligence experience as an analyst and be able to learn the operational environment at Customs. This role is intellectually challenging and requires individuals who are conscientious, adaptable, and comfortable interpreting legislation. Senior Customs Officers manage their own and others’ skills, leading and mentoring the team and acting as a Supervising Customs Officer when required.

Successful candidates must obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret level national security clearance. Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents who have lived continuously in NZ for the last 10 years and reside in NZ at the time of application. Previous absences of six months or more are acceptable if from Australia, Canada, the UK or the USA, with police certificates for time abroad. A clear police record, medical assessment, drug test, and a full NZ driver’s licence are required.
