We are looking for an Intermediate Business Intelligence Analyst / Developer with a strong foundation in both data engineering and business intelligence reporting to join our Technology team in Auckland. This is a highly varied and hands‑on role, providing a fantastic opportunity to be deeply involved in our data platform, reporting, and self‑service BI initiatives, working closely with many different parts of our business.

This role’s core responsibilities involve developing and optimising data pipelines, conducting data modelling and data transformation (primarily in Databricks), as well as creating advanced Power BI reports and dashboards to provide insights across strategic, tactical, and operational levels.

  • Working closely with stakeholders and project managers to collect requirements for new reports and enhancements to existing reports.
  • Bringing together data from various sources and working with structured and unstructured data to provide meaningful, user-friendly outputs.
  • Developing and delivering dashboards and reports using Power BI, including DAX, Power Query (M), row-level security, and apps.
  • Designing and managing data pipelines in Databricks and supporting ongoing development of our cloud-based data platform.
  • Designing and developing robust data models using medallion and star schema methodologies.
  • Upholding and promoting BI best practices in data architecture, data modelling, ETL, and reporting.
  • Managing and evolving our Power BI platform, including platform administration and technical support.
  • Mentoring analysts around the business, contributing to the professional growth of the analytics discipline.

We’ll expect you to work with both structured and unstructured data sources, use best-practice modelling techniques, and champion consistent and trusted data models and data governance practices. You will also play a key part in mentoring analysts across the business.

  • 3‑5 years’ experience in a BI Analyst or Developer role.
  • Proven experience with Power BI report and dashboard development including DAX and Power Query.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and SQL, with strong ETL and data modelling capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data lake architecture, and data governance.
  • Experience translating stakeholder requirements and business problems into robust data models and actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
  • A tertiary qualification in Information Systems, Data Analysis, Technology or a related field.
  • Experience working in a dynamic environment with cross-functional teams and Agile practices.
