Graduate–Intermediate Geophysicist | Start from early December
Are you a geophysicist who loves the outdoors, interpreting subsurface data and helping clients and stakeholders make informed decisions?
Cook Costello is on the lookout for a Graduate to Intermediate Geophysicist (2–5 years' experience) to join our Wellington or Christchurch team, with flexibility for the right candidate to be based elsewhere in New Zealand.
You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team of geotechnical, civil, and structural engineers, surveyors, and project managers, working together to map and understand the ground beneath our projects.

What You'll Do
Plan and carry out engineering geophysical investigations for a variety of projects across New Zealand.
Collect and process data using methods such as MASW, seismic refraction, resistivity, GPR, and determine Vs30.
Interpret and present geophysical data in reports, maps, and visual formats for internal and client use.
Work closely with geotechnical and structural engineers to integrate findings into practical engineering solutions.
Participate in project planning, client meetings, and contribute to continuous improvement in field and analysis processes.
About You
We're looking for someone who :
Holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or related field.
Has 2–5 years of relevant experience in applied or engineering geophysics.
Is confident working in the field and comfortable travelling to sites throughout New Zealand.
Is familiar with tools such as Python, Geolitix, Surfer, ReflexW, and SurfSeis.
Communicates clearly, works well in a team, and has an eye for detail when analysing data and writing reports.
