About the role

We are seeking environmental scientists / asbestos consultant or hazardous materials consultant to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team in Wellington.

As an environmental scientist / asbestos or hazardous materials consultant, you will work on iconic, diverse, multi-disciplinary projects for some of New Zealand's largest clients, offering pragmatic and cost-effective solutions for asbestos and hazardous materials management and removal projects.

Team leadership may be an option now or in the future.

Responsibilities

Conducting asbestos and other hazardous materials surveys removal oversight and clearance inspections, exposure health risk assessments, and the development and implementation of management plans

Producing high-quality technical reports

Support or lead hazardous materials projects, including project management support, scoping and budgeting for proposals

Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, providing pragmatic advice and solutions

Mentoring and leadership (for senior roles) : sharing knowledge, coaching, and developing junior team members, and contributing to building a high-performing team culture.

Our projects take us across New Zealand, so some travel is part of the role.

About you

Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Sciences

Licensed Asbestos Assessor essential

Minimum 2 years' professional experience with asbestos and hazardous materials consulting

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable liaising with clients

Hold a current full New Zealand driver's license
