What you'll do
Produce high-level and target-state data architecture designs, including fit-gap analysis across data platforms, systems and integration layers.
Lead data technology selection and integration planning, ensuring data strategies are aligned with business goals and with Stats NZ's ICT architecture guidance.
Provide technical leadership across multiple initiatives, bringing a strategic, enterprise-wide view of data architecture.
Advise on data modelling, governance, quality and interoperability to support sustainable and scalable data solutions.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical designs.
Contribute to design discussions that guide development and integration of technology.
Mentor and coach other architects, sharing technical knowledge across teams.
Qualifications
7+ years in Data Architecture with at least 3 years in a senior role.
Deep knowledge of data platforms, cloud architectures and modern data stacks.
Experience with cloud data platforms (preferably Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Spark or comparable technologies).
Strong communication skills, able to translate complex architectural concepts into accessible information for diverse stakeholders.
Knowledge or willingness to learn about Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Maori.
