Occupational Therapist - Intellectual Disability Service
Contract : Permanent, Full Time (1 FTE), Rostered and Rotating

About the Role
The Occupational Therapy role iscritical in the effective implementation of the service model of care. Thenature of rehabilitation provided for these clients necessitates staff in theseroles to provide active support, role modelling and coaching giving clients theopportunity to implement learned skills. The Occupational Therapist willprovide assessment and intervention for clients in 1 : 1 and group settings. Youwill work with a group of Occupational Therapists and Occupational therapistsupport workers across the Intellectual Disability Service.
About theTeam / Service Location
The Intellectual Disability Secure Service hasregional and national services :
Haumietiketike is a regional intellectualdisability adult secure forensic unit which has 11 beds for both males andfemales.
The Step-Down Rehabilitative Cottages include twoseparate houses providing four adult beds in each cottage.
Hikitia Te Wairua is the national intellectualdisability secure forensic unit for young people. This building is co-locatedwith the Rangatahi (Youth Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit) and Nga Taiohi(National Secure Youth Forensic Unit).
Manawai Individualised Service Units (ISU) is a nationalfacility for adults with an intellectual disability and / or mental illness who have conditions of such severity that they have beensubject to long-term hospital level care compromising their quality of life.
RIDCAS is aregional community team providing consultation and liaison with both mentalhealth and disability contracts.
