The institute operates on a fully integrated open-lab philosophy, with an extensive infrastructure supported by core facilities dedicated to technology such as state-of-the-art light microscopy, nano- and micro-fabrication, and computing.We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant in the Vascular Mechano-medicine Lab of Dr. Shailaja Seetharaman at the MBI and Department of Physiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.
The Vascular Mechano-medicine Lab ( / ) decodes and engineers the fundamental feedback mechanisms driving vascular tissue function in health and disease, with the goal of translating these discoveries into disease prediction and novel therapeutic strategies.The Research Assistant will gain expertise in cell and tissue biology, quantitative biology, and bioengineering approaches to uncover how mechanical forces affect blood vasculature in cardiovascular aging and disease.
Specifically, the Research Assistant will develop interdisciplinary high-throughput screening approaches using 2D and 3D models of vascular systems.
He / she will carry out this research project with close mentorship and guidance, in a highly collaborative and interactive environment.The Research Assistant's key responsibilities will include : Designing and conducting experiments involving cell culture, confocal microscopy, and microfluidicsAnalyzing experimental data using available toolsWorking collaboratively with researchers in the lab to support project goalsFollowing standard operating procedures and protocols for various experimental methods, and supporting day-to-day lab operationsEnsuring adherence to lab safety protocols and regulatory complianceThis position is ideal for aspiring researchers looking to pursue graduate studies in the future.
