About the role

DOC is looking for a Payroll Officer to join our small and busy team providing payroll services for DOC’s workforce based across Aotearoa. This is a high‑paced, high‑volume function and we need someone that can bring their experience and hit the ground running. The role is responsible for delivering best practice payroll services and advice in line with our policy and procedures and statutory obligations.

Key responsibilities

  • Opportunities to get involved in periodic project work to enhance processes and increase efficiency.

Skills and experience

  • Proven, hands‑on payroll processing experience – JadeStar payroll system experience will be a bonus!
  • Accuracy and high attention to detail.
  • Problem‑solving ability.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, diplomacy, and discretion.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation – knowledge of NZ payroll related legislation in the public service working environment is preferred.
  • Organisational and time‑management skills to meet tight deadlines.
  • A customer focus approach to your work and ability to contribute positively in a team.
  • What’s in it for you?

DOC places importance on developing a culture where everyone can participate, thrive, and grow. We’re working towards being an organisation that is diverse, equitable and inclusive by default. You can learn more about what we offer here.

We support flexible work arrangements for our employees who are working in a wide variety of roles and locations across Aotearoa. Flexible options will be considered based on your role and in discussion with your leader.
