Core Speech Language Therapist, Acute Allied Health & Community Stroke Rehabilitation

The Opportunity :

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Speech Language Therapist to join the Acute SLT team at Middlemore Hospital and the community stroke rehabilitation (CSR) team.

This role will allow the successful candidate to work across the acute and CSR service.

In this position you will have the opportunity to provide a comprehensive speech language therapy service including swallow assessments, communication evaluation and the development and implementation of goal related plans with the patient and their families.

Ideally you will be able to work autonomously, as well as part of an inter-disciplinary team and ongoing support will be provided as required.

Ongoing education and development of all employees including regular supervision, in-services and training in instrumental swallowing assessment will be provided.

As the ideal person for this role you will have the following skills and attributes :

New Zealand approved qualification to practice speech and language therapyMembership with NZSTA with a current Annual Practicing Certificate2 years minimum post qualification clinical experience working with an adult neurological caseload and dysphagia is desirableVFSS and FEES competency is desirableAn understanding of bicultural issues and commitment to the Treaty of WaitangiAbility to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary settingEffective time management, prioritisation and organisation skillsDrive, energy, initiative with excellent communication, interpersonal and team play skillsWhat's in it for you?
