We've seen lives change with our support and believe everyone deserves a second chance.What This Role Is AboutThe Women\'s Day Programme Support Worker (Kaimahi) provides trauma-informed, person-centered support to women accessing our drop-in programme.
This programme serves women who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, addiction, poverty, and systemic marginalisation.The kaimahi helps create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where women can access basic needs, build trusting relationships, and engage in supportive services that foster stability, empowerment, and community connection.

You\'ll join a team committed to social justice and to walking alongside women as they reclaim stability, safety, and hope.Welcome and engage participants with warmth, respect, and non-judgmentProvide emotional support, crisis de-escalation, and referrals to appropriate internal and external services.Support the day-to-day operations of the drop-in, including serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring safetyAssist in planning and facilitating daily activities or workshops focused on wellness, harm reduction, life skills, and peer connectionCoordinate guest speakers, workshops, and educational opportunities on topics relevant to participants, such as mental health, harm reduction, te ao Maori, legal rights, housing access, and employment readinessThis is a permanent role, Monday-Friday, 20-30 hours per week to be worked between the hours of 8 : 30am-4 : 30pm.About You - What you BringWe are seeking someone with the following skills and experience : Level 4 certificate in health and wellbeing or equivalent experience.Experience working with people who are homeless or at riskGreat communication and people skillsKnowledge of Canterbury's social servicesStrong understanding of social justice, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and relevant lawsAbility to manage time well, stay calm under pressure, and make good decisionsCommitment to respectful, inclusive, and ethical practiceIT confident and able to manage reporting and systemsComfortable working in a values-led, Christian-based organisationIn return we can offer you a rewarding role within a fun and supportive team environment, where no two days will be the same!
