This role sits within Climate Connect Aotearoa, a flagship programme housed in the Sustainable and Resilient Business team, which is part of Auckland Council's newly formed Economic Development Office.
In this role, you'll lead the growth and strategic evolution of the ClimateWise platform, helping small to medium enterprises (SMEs) - along with key partners such as banks, insurers, and business networks - to understand climate risks and create tailored adaptation plans.
By driving engagement and embedding ClimateWise across the business ecosystem, you'll increase SME participation, enable practical adaptation actions, and help strengthen business resilience across Tamaki Makaurau.ResponsibilitiesPlatform development and innovation : Ensure ClimateWise remains relevant, user-friendly, and capable of capturing sector-specific climate risks to inform planning, support, and policy.Partnership and stakeholder engagement : Build strong relationships with SMEs, intermediaries, and agencies to embed ClimateWise in advisory processes and position it as a trusted adaptation tool.Programme delivery : Lead outreach, training, and workshops that help businesses create adaptation plans, while supporting inclusive engagement with Maori and Pacific business networks.Monitoring and reporting : Establish and report on clear metrics to measure uptake, user satisfaction, and climate resilience outcomes, ensuring insights guide continuous improvement and future investment.Access the Position Description.He korero mou : About youWe are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in climate adaptation, sustainability, or business resilience, ideally gained within local government, consultancy, or industry.
You will bring a solid understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing SMEs in the context of climate change, along with proven ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build capacity within the business community.
A commitment to developing your cultural competency and understanding of te ao Maori is essential, as is familiarity with climate risk assessment tools, adaptation planning frameworks, and New Zealand's climate policy landscape.
