Senior Support Worker

What You’ll Do

As a you will support young people with their daily routines; Getting them ready for school, prepping for meal times and planning activities.

• Create a warm, homely environment by helping with light housekeeping.
• Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support.
• Plan and join fun activities like trips to the park, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects.
• Keep essential records to ensure the best possible care.

Where You’ll Do It

We care and support children within a residential home who have experienced significant trauma, child sexual exploitation or who are at risk of being exploited. We help the children learn vital skills to keep themselves safe and to make good decisions. We support the children to experience childhood experiences, education, good health and more all whilst building positive relationships and supporting them to grow into young adults ready for the next chapter of their journey whether that be semi-independence or returning to their family home. We work closely with many professionals as well as having our own clinical team to help create robust care plans to support the children in creating a future where they can succeed and flourish. This service in particular helps support children who experience time missing from home. The team work with the child to understand the risks and dangers and support in a reduction of missing from home through positive relationships, therapeutic work and supporting the child to be able to express their wants and needs in a positive way.

Our home is a beautiful farm house in a rural area situated between Crediton. We have the capacity to have 4 children living here at one time. We have a lovely outside space where we can utilise for BBQ’s, pool parties and activities. Each room has its own unique homely feel which has been contributed by the children to ensure they it reflects what they want their home to be.

This means that no two days are the same. We have children that love all things girly like doing the carers hair and makeup! And yes.. if you’re a man, she will also want to do yours!

We have children who love motocross and football as well as lots of other activities. The children love anything that gets the heart pumping so we love to utilise this within activities as this supports them in feeling adrenaline without being at risk.

Within our home we have a variety of carers that make up our team. We have carers who are all different ages and who have lots of different skills and knowledge. Our team consists of people who come from all different walks of life which means we are able to pull all of the experiences together to share with the children. One thing the team all have in common is their love and passion to empower and support the children to achieve their best. The team encourage, praise, educate, support and listen to the children ensuring their voices are heard and their feelings are acknowledged.
