The Registered Electrician will be responsible for the design, installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and components across Niagara's sawmill and remanufacturing operations.
The role ensures that all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and support the efficient running of production processes.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Examine drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications to determine installation and operation methods.
Measure and lay out installation reference points.
Select, cut, and connect wire and cable to terminals and connectors.
Use electrical and electronic test instruments to trace, diagnose, and repair faults.
Repair or replace faulty wiring and defective parts.
Install and position electrical switchboards, control systems, and motor control centres.
Connect electrical systems to power supply and test circuit continuity.
Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
Install, test, and commission electrical systems including PLC-controlled and automated equipment.
Comply with all electrical safety standards, codes of practice, and company policies.
Skills and Experience Required
NZ Electrical Registration and Current Practising Licence (essential).
NZQF Level 4 Electrical qualification or equivalent (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).
Minimum of three years of relevant experience in industrial, manufacturing, or commercial environments.
Demonstrated ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications.
Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Commitment to safe work practices and quality outcomes.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
