    About the Role

    We're seeking a compassionate and confident Hauora Māori Worker to join our Children's Emergency Department team. In this role, you'll provide whānau-centred, culturally safe support for tamariki Māori and their whānau during what can be a stressful and emotional time. You'll help ensure that te ao Māori values, tikanga, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles are embedded in every aspect of care.

    • Support tamariki Māori and their whānauto feel safe, respected, and understood while in hospital care.
    • Advocate for the needs and wellbeing of whānau Māori, helping them navigate the ED process with clarity and confidence.
    • Provide cultural guidance and uphold tikanga Māori within a child-focused clinical environment.
    • Strengthen connections between whānau, clinical teams, and Māori Health Services.
    • Contribute to equity-focused initiatives to improve outcomes for tamariki Māori.
    • This role requires empathy, calmness, and the ability to engage effectively with children, whānau, and multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.

      About You

      Your skills will include :

    • A strong understanding of te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori.
    • A calm, caring presence and ability to support whānau during times of stress.
    • A genuine commitment to improving hauora and equity for tamariki Māori.
    • Relevant qualifications or experience in Māori health, social services, community work, or child / family support are an advantage.
