- About the Role
- We're looking for a compassionate and confident Hauora Maori Worker to join our Emergency Department team.
In this role, you'll support Maori turoro (patients) and their whanau to feel safe, understood, and cared for during their time in ED.
You'll help ensure that te ao Maori, tikanga, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles are embedded in the care we provide.As a Hauora Maori Worker, you'll :
Provide whanau-centred and culturally safe support for Maori patients in the Emergency Department.Advocate for Maori health needs and help whanau navigate the hospital system.Uphold tikanga Maori and offer cultural guidance to ED staff.Strengthen relationships between whanau, clinicians, and Maori Health Services.Contribute to improving equity and health outcomes for Maori in emergency care.This is a fast-pacedenvironment where compassion, calmness, and strong communication skills areessential.About YouYour skills will include :A strong understanding of te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori.Experience supporting tamariki and whanau Maori in health, education, or community settings.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.A calm, caring presence and ability to support whanau during times of stress.A genuine commitment to improving hauora and equity for tamariki Maori.Relevant qualifications orexperience in Maori health, social services, community work, or child / familysupport are an advantage.However we want to see the real you in your application and welcome the real you on board if you come and work with us.Skills are gained across many areas of our life, not just in formal employment.
