OverviewSenior Technician – Aquatic Animal Diseases (AAD).
Permanent, Full-Time.
Location : Wallaceville, Upper-Hutt.
General Salary Range : G $67,658 to $89,957 depending on skills and experience.ResponsibilitiesProvide intellectual and technical expertise to the AAD team to enhance response to high-priority infectious animal diseases.Support and mentor others within Biosecurity New Zealand to develop knowledge and skills.Lead and contribute to technical projects as part of the AAD team.Assist with planning, coordination, organizing, and teamwork to support laboratory work aligned with biosecurity objectives.About You – MouBSc or post-graduate qualification in a relevant scientific field.Molecular techniques validations and troubleshooting (PCR).
Cell-based Aquatics virology.Knowledge and experience of microbiological laboratories.Experience in planning, coordination, organizing, teamwork, and leadership.Experience leading technical projects.Experience with quality assurance systems.Knowledge and experience of standards and regulations impacting laboratory work (e.g., ISO : 17025, AS / NZS 2243.3, animal ethics, HSNO).
Excellent written skills : ability to produce concise, fluent, and clearly presented material.About the TeamOur Diagnostic, Readiness Surveillance Services (DRS) directorate are the guardians of New Zealand's biosecurity.
