Chanel College is an integrated Y7-13 Catholic secondary school located in Masterton.

We are looking for a passionate, innovative and inclusive head of learning area–science who believes in the inner scientist of every ākonga. You will have a passion for seeing science made accessible to all rangatahi, with the ability and willingness to teach and lead an innovation around the New Zealand science curriculum using inclusive practices around Māori and Pasifika student engagement.

You will be a naturally collaborative leader who is keen to build the capabilities of non‑science specialists to incorporate STEM / STEAM in their classes. You need to believe in your role as a facilitator of learning who is passionate about an integrated subject approach to teaching and learning.

An effective practitioner, you will be motivated by student engagement and be highly relational. Through your practice, you will demonstrate a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and inclusive or actices.

You will be willing and able to support the Catholic character of our kura and our Huakina Mairel relational behaviour management model.

This role would suit a current leader or an aspiring leader.

The position is full‑time, permanent and commences on 28 January 2026 or by negotiation.
