Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager Portfolio Insights, you will oversee the collection, analysis and presentation of data to inform Risk management (internal stakeholders) as well as external stakeholders. This role is crucial in transforming raw data into valuable insights that drive business efficiencies and better risk management.
Some Of The Key Deliverables Are
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Manage the team’s workload and delivery of regular reporting on key credit risk performance indicators.
- Oversee the development and enhancement of dashboards and reports, ensuring alignment with organisational need, best practices and ensure reporting practices align with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.
- Review and approve risk reports for production release, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
- Develop subject matter expertise in credit risk and Westpac NZ portfolios, providing strategic insights and guidance.
- Ensure all reporting outputs meet high standards of documentation, automation, and governance.
- Champion best practices in reporting tools such as SAS, SQL, Excel, and Power BI.
- Communicate insights effectively to senior leaders and non-technical stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
- Contribute to strategic risk initiatives and represent Portfolio Insights in cross-functional forums and risk committees.
- Support career development and succession planning within the Portfolio Insights team.
- Lead or support change initiatives related to data infrastructure, reporting systems, or analytics capabilities.

5+ years’ experience in credit risk reporting or quantitative analysis, including proven experience as a people leader.Exceptional numerical, logical, and interpretative skills, with a strong ability to translate data into actionable insights.Advanced proficiency in SAS (Enterprise Guide) and / or SQL, with demonstrated ability to query and manipulate large datasets.Highly skilled in Excel, including advanced analytical functions.Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or SAS Visual Analytics (preferred).Strong analytical and report-building capabilities, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and business relevance.Self-driven and results-oriented, with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.A determination for industry-leading performance and a mindset of continuous improvement.Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.Westpac Hei Wāhi Mahi | Working at Westpac
