About Us – Christchurch City Mission
The Christchurch City Mission (Te Whare Mihana Ki Otautahi) helps anyone in need, no matter their situation.
We work with people going through tough times—whether it's because of job loss, housing issues, addiction, family problems, or financial stress.
We respond to both immediate crises and long-term challenges.
Our services aim to help people gain the confidence and skills to live independently and feel proud of themselves.
We've seen lives change with our support and believe everyone deserves a second chance.
What This Job Is About
As our Gifts in Wills Lead, you'll play a vital role in building trusted relationships with our donors and supporters, growing the Mission's Gifts in Wills programme to ensure we can continue supporting our community well into the future.
This is a relationship-driven fundraising role where you'll work closely with people considering leaving a gift in their will to the Mission.
You'll also steward donors who have confirmed that they have left a gift with care and respect, manage solicitor and estate executor relationships, and bring creative and strategic thinking to promoting gifts in wills within our current donor base and beyond.
If you're great with people and great with data, this is your opportunity to do meaningful work every day.
This is a permanent, full-time position although part-time would be considered for the right candidate.
The days and hours of work are Monday to Friday with the occasional evening event.
What You Need To Bring
We are seeking a candidate with the following skills and experience :
Deep understanding of Gifts in Wills fundraising
Experience in donor stewardship and moves management
Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and a natural storyteller
A warm, people-centred approach that builds rapport and trust
Strong project management and organisational skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Experience with donor databases (we use FundraiserOne)
Confidence using Microsoft Office tools like Excel and Outlook
A commitment to the values of the Christchurch City Mission and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
In return we can offer you a rewarding role within a fun and supportive team environment, where no two days will be the same!
We also offer a wellbeing allowance and a day off for your birthday, not to mention the personal satisfaction gained from working for an organisation that does such amazing work!
