Custodian / Cleaner

To help keep Wanaka pristine this summer, we’re looking for a dedicated Custodian to join our team on a fixed-term basis starting 01st December, working through to the end of February 2026.

What does a Custodian do, you ask?

In this role, you’ll help keep public toilets and facilities around the town centre, lakefront, and surrounding areas clean, safe, and inviting for all visitors. Your key responsibilities will include :

• Cleaning and sanitising high-touch surfaces, including taps, sinks, handrails, door handles, and toilets.
• Performing routine cleaning tasks such as mopping, sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, and bathroom cleaning.
• Tidying external grounds, including rubbish collection, leaf blowing, and water blasting.
• Maintaining stock levels for soap, toilet paper, and hand towels.

Ideally, you’ll be available full-time, with weekend availability but we can make small adjustments for the right person. You will also know your roster in advance in order to plan your leisure time!

About You

You’ll be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, passionate about delivering excellent customer service, and able to represent Green by Nature and the Council professionally. You should be capable of working independently and prioritise safety for yourself, the team, and the public. Ideally, you’ll also have a full, class 1 driver’s licence with manual driving capability to be able to drive our vehicles.
