Join Rotorua Lakes Council's Community Safety & Regulatory Services team for a summer placement focused on licensing inspections, compliance, and community safety projects.
Your Role
Here's what you will be doing :
Investigate complaints about abandoned vehicles and arrange removal when necessary
Support licensing compliance related consent processing and contribute to LIMs and PIMs
Assist with processing food registration applications to the Registration Authority
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of food verifications processing
Conduct noise assessments to establish compliance with the District Plan
Provide administrative support as required
Maintain accurate records related to Registration Authorities legislative functions
Assist with tasks supporting the team's work and wider organisational objectives
Act professionally in accordance with Council's vision and values
About You
The company is looking for :
Minimum NCEA Level 3 qualification
Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Suite
Current full driver's licence
Ability to handle documents and sensitive information accurately and confidentially
Highly developed interpersonal skills with effective written and verbal communication
Well organised with ability to plan and prioritise tasks
Willingness to complete tasks carefully and on time
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised
Open to problem-solving and taking responsibility for tasks
Strong customer service focus and ability to relate well to diverse people
Attention to detail and pride in work
Personal integrity and ability to maintain composure under pressure

Desirable : Currently pursuing or aspiring to a regulatory career
Desirable : Knowledge of Tikanga and Reo Maori
