TeTuranga| The roleJoin us as an Adviser within our Deposit Taking team, where you'll help shape the way we regulate conduct in the banking and non-bank deposit-taking sectors.You'll bring energy and expertise to assessing risks and entity performance, and building constructive relationships with market participants.Your mahi will include but not be limited to :
Supporting the development and delivery of core elements of the Conduct of Financial Institutions (CoFI) Programme of work, including :Participating in work to embed FMA's approach to licensing, supervision, monitoring and stakeholder engagementResearch and information assessment to feed into relevant risk assessmentsSector and interagency engagementSupporting the team in developing a deeper understanding of banking and non-bank deposit taking in Aotearoa New Zealand, including further analysis of current and emerging risks in the sectorIdentifying harms and utilising appropriate regulatory tools to treat those harms and, where appropriate, refer to other internal teams to consider steps to enforce compliance with legislationYou'll also contribute to delivering on FMA's regulatory priorities which may involve reviewing entity responses to targeted reviews, providing feedback, and conducting on-site monitoring.This is a fantastic opportunity to deepen your understanding of the banking sector and see the meaningful impact of your mahi on consumer outcomes.
He koreromou| About youYou'll be naturally curious and confident, with the ability to ask direct questions and navigate challenging conversations with professionalism and tact.You will be someone who doesn't take things at face value and really digs deep to understand the how and the why.Ideally, you'll bring experience from the banking sector, particularly in risk, audit, or compliance functions.
You'll understand how financial institutions operate and be comfortable assessing risk and influencing outcomes without formal authority.We're looking for someone who thrives on variety, is eager to learn, open to new experiences, and can balance analytical thinking with relationship-building skills.
