About us

Child Cancer Foundation is a New Zealand charity that provides support to children and families on their cancer journey. We support them every step of the way, helping them overcome challenges and maintain control of their lives.

We focus on the whānau, not the cancer. No two families’ experiences are the same, and neither is the nature of the support they need.

Our vision is ‘To walk alongside and support all children and their families on their cancer journey and advance improvements to child cancer care’

We are guided by our values that help us deliver our vision. Our values are :

Tautiaki | Trust

Each and every role is integral in what we do.

About the role

This is a 12-month fixed term role (parental leave cover), part time role (30 hours per week). Ideal start date is early January 2026.

You will be responsible for key events taking place in the South Island (Sparkle for Hope Ball being a key event) and acting as delivery support for events based in the North Island. Additionally, responsible for the development and management of individuals and community groups facilitating fundraising events for Child Cancer Foundation.

You will take pride in building and nurturing relationships across a range of stakeholder groups, and particularly those who support, fund and donate to us. It is vital they have a positive experience when supporting us; recognising that their support is crucial in enabling us to do what we do.

Facilitating events and campaigns is what you love, your well-honed project management skills and drive will ensure expectations are well and truly met and you will constantly look at how we can be better. You aren’t afraid to reach out to your networks and source sponsors or auction items.

Let’s not forget the administration that needs to occur behind the scenes; this may include volunteer recruitment, ensuring our supporters are thanked, utilising project management tools to track progress and invoicing and budget management.

This is a hands-on role that will also work closely with the wider Marketing & Fundraising team. No two days are the same, this role has a wide scope and requires the ability to work across multiple projects and initiatives with passion and excitement will not forgetting to execute with precision.

This role will require the occasional weekend and evening work.

What we provide

Aside from working with a group of passionate and experienced people, we have flexible working hours and provide the option to work from home one day per week.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who can remain calm under pressure and get things done – you will be highly organised, focussed on the detail and can meet deadlines. You will also ideally have :

Qualification in Event Management or similar

At least two years relevant work experience; within the not-for-profit and / or fundraising space would be advantageous

Ability to prioritise a varied and complex workload

Solutions-focussed mindset with the ability to pivot when needed

Creative flair and not afraid to think outside the box

The ability to effectively work with a diverse range of stakeholders and maintain positive relationships

If you are wanting a rewarding role where you can support a purpose-lead organisation by organising and executing key events all while working with belief, trust and empathy to support tamariki with cancer and their whānau, then please apply!
