Occupational Therapist - Dargaville Hospital

About the Role

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide services across community, adult rehab and mental health / recovery settings.

You will support both inpatients and outpatients, helping individuals to meet their needs, promoting independence, safety, self-determination, individual and family wellbeing.

This role will be based at Dargaville Hospital, working between Mondays and Fridays.

Travel throughout the area is required.

About the Team / Service / Location

Dargaville Hospital provides hospital level and community care to the people of Kaipara.

Services include a 12-bed general ward and an 8-bed detoxification ward with various allied and community health services as well as other health providers available.

About you

• Registered Occupational Therapist with a current NZ practicing certificate
• Current NZ full drivers license
• Equipment Assessors Accreditation
• Previous experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
• Good working knowledge of emotional and social issues as they relate to individuals, their families and the wider community
• Excellent communication skills
• Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
• Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settingsPrevious experience within a rural health setting would be preferable however if you have less experience but a lot of interest, we would love to hear from you!
