Transport Support Officer

We are currently seeking a customer focused, well-organised individual with an interest in transport / public transport, to join our Transport Team as a Transport Operations Support Officer.

This is a fixed term position for nine months, based in Palmerston North.It is an incredibly exciting time for transport in our region with increasing investment in public transport and a number of large key infrastructure projects to be implemented in the immediate future.

Our role in Transport is two-fold.

We manage public transport across the region including our urban bus networks and total mobility.

We also coordinate the development of an integrated and strategic transport network for the region, to facilitate the safe and efficient movement of people, and to enable regional growth.Horizons is focused on our region having effective transport networks and is set to deliver two bus network improvements in Whanganui and Feilding in early 2026.

The transport team will need assistance in the planning and delivery of these projects to ensure a seamless transition for the community.

Additionally, the role will be helping to support the day-to-day operations of the transport team, including passenger relations and service disruption planning.You will be supporting the implementation of the new bus services in Whanganui and Feilding, which will include : Engagement with the public to promote and inform them about the new service.Install on-street timetables & network promotion at bus stops.Help to manage passengers' enquiries received by the Transport team.About youStrong desire to contribute to delivering a better transport networkCustomer focused attitudeAttention to detail, and well-organisedEnjoy working in the community with a 'can do' attitude.
