The Opportunity

Downer is a leading provider of integrated services across New Zealand, with a strong presence in transport and infrastructure. Our Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) division plays a key role in keeping people moving safely and efficiently by delivering and maintaining traffic signals, lighting, and advanced transport technologies.

We’re looking for a hands‑on Project Engineer with an electrical background, to own the day‑to‑day delivery of traffic‑signal maintenance and project builds across Christchurch. You’ll keep intersections safe, reliable and compliant—balancing speed, safety and quality while developing your crew and supporting the city’s essential transport network.

You’ll plan and deliver work programmes, coordinate electricians and sub‑contractors and ensure every job is done right the first time. You’ll be part of a friendly, tight‑knit Christchurch crew, backed by national ITS network for support, escalation and knowledge sharing.
