Sexton - Auckland

Are you ready to take on the meaningful role of a Sexton?

We’re looking for someone who can carry out interments, liaise with funeral directors, and provide empathy and respect to families during their most difficult times.

This role is based out of our Drury office and includes keeping the cemetery grounds immaculate through mowing, weeding, maintaining aftercare of new burials and assisting with the upkeep of structures. Pride in your work and a deep respect for these special places is essential.

What You’ll Bring to the Table | Ngā Mea ka Mauria e Koe ki te Rūnanga :

• Practical experience with grounds maintenance, mowing, aftercare of new burials a nd general outdoor work
• Ability to operate and maintain small plant and equipment safely
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of presentation
• Reliability and a strong work ethic to ensure services run smoothly
• Compassion and professionalism when working with grieving families and funeral directors
• Physical fitness for manual tasks, including digging and lifting
• A current driver’s licence (Class 1 essential, Class 2 an advantage)
• Tracks endorsement would also be an advantage
• Flexibility to work as part of a team and support other cemetery operations
• Practical, hands‑on worker comfortable with outdoor and manual tasks
• Reliable, professional, and empathetic when dealing with families and funeral directors
• Attention to detail to keep cemetery grounds well‑maintained
• Physically fit and able to work independently or in a small team
