- The Opportunity
- We have an exciting opening for a motivated and driven Assistant Manager in our reputable Central Otago laboratory. This is a unique career opportunity designed to support the current Laboratory Manager while preparing for a seamless step up to the Laboratory Manager role in 12 months, following the planned retirement of our current leader.You'll enjoy an extensive handover and mentoring period while gaining a thorough understanding of our lab operations, people, company culture, and business strategy. After 12 months, the intent is to transition you into the Laboratory Manager role, continuing our legacy of high standards and excellent customer service.
- In a
- ddition to the above you will :
- Support the Laboratory Manager in providing technical and people leadership.
- Ensure the Laboratory continues to meet the requirements of ISO 17025 and remains IANZ accredited. ISO / IEC 17025 is the international standard for testing and calibration laboratories. It sets out requirements for the competence, impartiality, and consistent operation of our laboratory, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our testing and calibration results.
- Actively support the development and accreditation of laboratory technicians.
- Supervising the activities of staff assigned to work in the laboratory, ensuring that staff are working as productively as practicable at all times, and to document and report any issues to the Laboratory Manager.

- We’re looking for someone with :
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant scientific or technical field.
- Demonstrated technical skills and emerging leadership qualities.
- Strong organisation, communication, and customer service skills.
- Competent understanding of civil engineering material properties.
- Possess sound judgement, apply common sense and be calm under pressure.
- Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize own workload.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office suite particularly Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Full clean NZ class 1 driving licence.
