About the role
CentralPac Ltd is seeking a Unitec Line Manager for the cherry harvest season. This fixed-term position is responsible for overseeing the setup, calibration, and daily operation of the Unitec Optical Cherry Grader and associated packing equipment. The role focuses on ensuring optimal packing line performance, fruit quality, and production efficiency throughout the cherry harvest period, and is directly influenced by seasonal conditions, weather, and crop maturity.
Key responsibilities
- Lead pre-season setup, maintenance, and calibration of the Unitec Optical Cherry Grader and packing line equipment.
- Oversee daily operation and maintenance of the grader and packing equipment during the harvest period, ensuring smooth performance and minimal downtime.
- Manage packing line operations and staff to achieve production, efficiency, and quality targets.
- Assess fruit quality to determine optimal packing line speed, grade settings, and packout distribution across export and domestic lines.
- Optimise fruit grading to meet customer and export specifications for size, colour, and quality.
- Continuously monitor packed and rejected fruit to verify grading accuracy and maintain consistent quality standards.
- Perform daily and scheduled preventative maintenance, calibration checks, and troubleshooting of packing equipment.
- Provide training, supervision, and performance guidance to seasonal packing line team leaders and production staff.
- Liaise with the Packhouse Manager to plan daily packing schedules and coordinate production priorities.
- Maintain effective communication with relevant parties (including all staff, export company representatives and customers).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and post-season maintenance and upgrades of the Unitec system and packing equipment.
Minimum requirements
At least 3 years experience in a relevant roleExperience operating Unitec Cherry Vision 3.0 software is requiredExperience with Unitec Cherry Vision 3.5 software is preferredSkills specific to the understanding of cherry fruit management and handlingStrong communication and leadership skills for managing teamsFamiliarity with health and safety requirements in packhouseJob Details
Term : fixed-term, 03 November 2025 – end of harvest or 28 February 2026 (whichever is sooner)
Pay Rate : $35-38 / hr based on experience
Hours : Depending on harvest conditions, minimum 30 hours per week, maximum 50 hours per week hours of work will be per a roster Monday to Sunday between 6 : 00 am and 8 : 00 pm. You may be required to work Statutory Holidays and must be available to work the whole harvest period.
