We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our Heinz Wattie's team in Hastings, New Zealand at the Tomoana Site.
Here you will play a key role in driving strategic oversight and support for our engineering and maintenance departments.
Driving innovation on site while leading and supporting our maintenance and engineering teams in their daily operations.

Tomoana site is one of the largest Heinz Wattie's sites within New Zealand producing condiments, jams, soups, single-serve and frozen meals as well as petfood production in both pouches and cans.Key position responsibilitiesProvide strategic leadership and direction to the engineering and maintenance departments, ensuring alignment with Kraft Heinz policies and proceduresOversee the Engineering team, including Project Engineers and other engineering staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunitiesDevelop, coordinate, and execute maintenance-related capital budget items, and support the Maintenance Manager in planning and managing new projectsEnsure facility and assets meet compliance with all safety procedures and standardsChampion continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering and maintenance departments, implementing best practices and innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiencyOptimise costs through effective budget planning and management, collaborating with the Site Manager to ensure cost-effective asset management and minimise loss and wastePartner with business leaders on equipment and manufacturing reliability, process improvements (Six Sigma / Lean), and major maintenance and project requirementsConduct reviews to improve departmental services, equipment reliability, and factory operations, and support the team leaders in conducting major downtime activities and special projectsProvide expert advice and support on electrical control systems, PLC programming, and other technical aspects related to plant operationsAbout youBachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with relevant professional accreditations and certificationsStrong and proven practical experience in the manufacturing industry, with successful leadership of semi-autonomous work teamsFood industry and / or packaging experience, with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principlesStrong understanding of OH&S and EPA regulations and systemsProven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work hands-on, unsupervised, and meet deadlines, with a 'can do' attitude and strong alignment with company valuesProficient in Microsoft Office and computer systems, with ability to learn and adapt to new systemsAbility to support a continuous operation (24 hrs, 7 days per week) and effectively plan and manage through change within large enterprise organisationsEligibility to work in New Zealand with full working rightsBenefits of working with usPay for Performance – industry leading variable compensation offerings tied to company and individual performance on top of a competitive base salary packageParental Leave – paid time off for both primary AND secondary caregiversLeave Options – Volunteer leave and LiveWell leave programs to give you even more flexibility to plan your life and spend time on causes that matterNovated LeasingGreat Place to Work certification in Australia and New ZealandIn House Training ProgramsCorporate Discount ProgramsReady to make an Impact?
