Job descriptionRead and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and design specifications. Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, plywood, and other materials to construct cabinets, furniture, and fixtures. Operate woodworking machinery such as saws, planers, routers, jointers, and sanders. Fit and install completed units in designated locations, ensuring precision, alignment, and high-quality finish. Repair or modify existing furniture and cabinetry as required. Apply finishes such as varnish, stain, or paint to protect and enhance product appearance. Maintain tools, machinery, and work areas in good condition and ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards. Collaborate with team members to meet project specifications and deadlines. A relevant New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF) Level 4 certificate; OR At least three years of relevant work experience Proficiency in using woodworking tools and machinery. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and craftsmanship. Ability to interpret and work from detailed technical drawings. Knowledge of different types of wood, laminates, and hardware fittings. Effective problem-solving and time management skills. Physical fitness and the ability to handle materials and operate machinery safely.
