Learn more : DescriptionWe are seeking an Investment Manager specializing in Renewables & Green Hydrogen to join our team.
As a full-time, on-site role based in Auckland, New Zealand, this position involves managing and optimizing investments in sustainable energy projects in New Zealand and other APAC countries such as Japan, Australia and ASEAN market.
Responsibilities include conducting market analysis and due diligence, developing and executing investment strategies, and providing data-driven recommendations to enhance project and business growth.
The Investment Manager will collaborate with internal teams and external partners while contributing to Obayashi's Sustainability Vision
.What You'll DoBuild and maintain detailed financial models for solar, BESS, geothermal and green hydrogen projects, including debt sizing, profitability forecasts, and sensitivity analysis.Lead and assist valuation of asset, portfolio and platform M&A opportunities and Obayashi's asset portfolio optimization.Support investment analysis and transactions in other APAC markets as needed.Transaction SupportLead structuring and negotiating project finance, including non-recourse debt.Contribute to legal and tax structuring for transactions involving domestic and overseas investors.Prepare investment committee materials and presentations for internal approvals.Commercial & Strategic SupportSupport PPA structuring and negotiation with retailers and large C&I customers.Conduct industry research and track energy sector trends to inform investment strategy.Manage relationships with banks, institutional investors, and strategic partners.Monitor financial performance of operating assets and support portfolio optimization.Assist in strategic planning and mid-term business planning for the NZ platform.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver accurate and dynamic financial models for development and operating projects.Support due diligence processes (technical, legal, tax, and financial) for investments and acquisitions.Coordinate with development, engineering, and legal teams to ensure bankability of projects.Prepare and present investment proposals to senior management and investment committees.Maintain compliance with local statutory requirements and internal reporting standards.What We're Looking ForKnowledge & SkillsStrong financial modeling and analytical skills.Understanding of project finance, debt structuring, and investment analysis.Familiarity with renewable energy economics and risk factors (solar / BESS preferred).Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; Japanese is a plus.Experience3–5 years in developer, investment banking or M&A advisory in renewables.Track record of leading or supporting project finance and / or M&A transactions.Education & QualificationsBachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field (advanced degree or CPA / CFA a plus).
